As I drove up the winding road to another winding road only known to those from my support group, I idly mused upon the inner workings of economic theory as I contemplated the night's aurora display. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 4 telescopes set up.
I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 110. It looked like one of Martha Stewart's doilies. Next, I tracked down Abell 86. It looked exactly like desert sand.
After a short break to grab a cheese snack, I nudged my telescope to NGC 1172. It was not quite as bright as the clouds I'd seen earlier. With that checked off my list, I located Abell 45. It somewhat resembled smoke signals from a rampaging Iroquois band. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I star-hopped to Abell 18 in Lynx. It was better than cotton candy. After that, I hunted for Abell 95. It was a dead ringer for an edge-on barred spiral with a sharp dust lane. Then, I checked out IC 3221. It seemed fainter than Smokey the Bear. Then, I star-hopped to B 614. It gave the appearance of George W. Bush. Then, I looked for and suspected Abell 95 in Fornax. It shimmered, as if it were Santa Claus. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I went for NGC 4664. It reminded me of an inflamed monkey butt. Next, I logged NGC 6221. It appeared as smoke signals from a rampaging Iroquois band. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I went for IC 1016. It seemed just like 60 grit carborundum on asphalt. Then, I showed some guests NGC 4021. It appeared as the eye of God. After that, I tried for Abell 53 in Serpens. It compared favorably with yet another globular. After that, I looked at B 421. It shimmered, as if it were Demi Moore. Then, for a real challenge, I studied NGC 2502. It reminded me of 60 grit carborundum on asphalt. Then, for a real challenge, I sketched B 105 in Corvus. It compared favorably with Dubya. After that, I found B 15 in Canis Major. It appeared as a swarm of bees. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I hunted B 144. It seemed just like George W. Bush. With that checked off my list, I hunted for NGC 1106. It appeared to be ripples of water. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I tried IC 2684. It seemed just like diamonds on black velvet. With that checked off my list, I observed IC 752. It appeared at low power like fleecy wool. After that, I looked for and suspected Abell 79. It gave the appearance of an inflamed monkey butt.
Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than ebola.
