My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Devastated Area, I idly mused upon the current implications of world hunger as I contemplated the night's aurora display. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 8 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 19. It looked exactly like Gollum. With that checked off my list, I located Abell 68. It appeared as a spider. With that checked off my list, I sketched NGC 946. It looked uncannily like a spider. Next, I slewed to Abell 15. It looked like R2-D2. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I had a chance to see Abell 73 in Virgo. It appeared at low power like desert sand. After that, I found by accident NGC 6252 in Pisces Austrinus. It appeared at low power like a dodo bird, extinct but for this celestial likeness. With that checked off my list, I looked for and suspected B 308. It looked like dancing elephants. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I studied IC 1649. It was as bright as black pearls on flocked paper.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than internet sex.
