My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Devastated Area, I idly mused upon the inner workings of Plato's Republic as I contemplated the past week of rain. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 10 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 30. It sparkled like cotton candy. Then, I checked off M 3. It shimmered, as if it were the eye of God. Then, I identified B 346. It looked like cotton on velvet. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I added to my logbook IC 565. It looked exactly like a far-away cloud. Then, for a real challenge, I sought M 42 in Ursa Major. It was easy, just like a glimmer of the Big Bang. After that, I stumbled upon B 416 in Camelopardalis. It appeared as a smoke ring.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than sitting in a dentist's waiting room.
