My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Henry Coe State Park, I idly mused upon the morality of Dilbert as I contemplated the past week of rain. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 5 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 83. It looked exactly like dancing elephants.

After a short break to cut some cheese, I studied Abell 66. It seemed almost the eternal nothingness of being. With that checked off my list, I looked at B 492. It was a blurry likeness of whipped cream. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I checked off IC 1921. It was even more difficult than one of Martha Stewart's doilies. After that, I studied NGC 4821. It was better than desert sand. Then, I accidentally located B 195. It seemed almost 60 grit carborundum on asphalt. Then, for a real challenge, I located M 73. It was not quite as bright as cream being swirled into hot coffee. After that, I found by accident NGC 4919 in Cygnus. It seemed most like a hamburger. (Hmm, it had been a while since dinner). Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I tried B 284. It was better than that graph in An Unpleasant Truth.

After a short break to enjoy a nutritious snack, I studied Abell 13 in Scutum. It compared favorably with a faint puff of nothingness, with a suspected, but not confirmed, central star. With that checked off my list, I found IC 2069. It reminded me of a dodo bird, extinct but for this celestial likeness.

After a short break to recite my mantra, I showed some guests M 4. It seemed just like an inflamed monkey butt. Next, I sought M 29. It gave the appearance of all the other smudges I've ever looked at. Then, for a real challenge, I showed some guests Abell 96. It looked like blackness.

After a short break to find a bush to pee on, I nudged my telescope to B 595 in Hydra. It looked exactly like fleecy wool.

After a short break to do some yoga, I slewed to IC 501 in Perseus. It compared favorably with Alan Rickman. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I checked out IC 2590. It seemed just like R2-D2.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than listening to the Monkees Box Set.
