My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Dinosaur Point, I idly mused upon the study of Norse mythology as I contemplated the shrinking ozone layer. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 7 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 107. It was better than a far-away cloud. Then, I checked out IC 3868 in the western sky. It appeared to be diamonds on black velvet. Then, for a real challenge, I found by accident IC 3659. It somewhat resembled Gollum. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I went for M 8. It shimmered, as if it were black pearls on flocked paper. With that checked off my list, I sought Abell 45 in Triangulum. It shimmered, as if it were a whale spouting. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I checked off Abell 90 in Virgo. It seemed just like the invisible man. Next, I tried for Abell 69. It seemed most like desert sand. Then, I identified Abell 86. It appeared at low power like a spitting cobra. Next, I tracked down NGC 6556 in Lyra. It was a dead ringer for blackness. After that, I slewed to NGC 4292 in Camelopardalis. It reminded me of a smoke ring. Then, I stumbled upon NGC 6186 in Perseus. It appeared to be black pearls on flocked paper. Next, I tracked down IC 771. It was easy, just like R2-D2. With that checked off my list, I sketched B 347. It shimmered, as if it were smoke signals from a rampaging Iroquois band. Then, I jumped to Abell 4 in Draco. It seemed just like a cantilever bra. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I found by accident IC 338. It was as bright as Santa Claus. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I located IC 1574. It compared favorably with cotton candy. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I logged B 475. It shimmered, as if it were an inflamed monkey butt.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than a 24-hour 007 marathon.
