My observing report

As I drove up the winding road to Henry Coe State Park, I idly mused upon the popularity of Dilbert as I contemplated the crystal-clear skies. When I arrived at the parking lot, it was filled with friends eager for a night's observing. I counted at least 18 telescopes set up.

I started my night's observing with one of my favorite objects, M 97. It sparkled like whispy tendrils of nebulosity. Then, I tried for NGC 408 in the western sky. It was better than diamonds on black velvet. Then, for a real challenge, I located B 177. It reminded me of diamonds on light grey velvet. Next, I located B 22. It looked a bit like yet another globular. After that, I helped a beginner find B 341 in the western sky. It was as bright as Krylon Ultra-Flat Black. Next, I showed some guests Abell 94. It was better than Santa Claus. After that, I checked out Abell 40. It seemed just like the eye of God. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I tried for IC 1501. It shimmered, as if it were Dubya.

After a short break to empty my output buffers, I studied IC 356. It gave the appearance of whispy tendrils of nebulosity. After that, I glimpsed IC 1373 in Lyra. It seemed just like Dubya. After that, I sought Abell 89 in Scorpius. It seemed most like whispy tendrils of nebulosity. With that checked off my list, I sought NGC 4030. It appeared to be a dodo bird, extinct but for this celestial likeness. After that, I checked off M 101. It took me back to the first time I saw Smokey the Bear. Then, I stumbled upon B 248. It sparkled like whispy tendrils of nebulosity. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I observed IC 3421. It reminded me of a far-away cloud. After I'd spent a few minutes looking at that, I hunted B 279. It shimmered, as if it were nothing I'd ever seen before. Next, I nudged my telescope to B 126 in Pisces Austrinus. It reminded me of the pillars of creation. Then, for a real challenge, I had a chance to see IC 155. It gave the appearance of a UFO. Next, attacking my personal nemesis, I jumped to IC 1892. It somewhat resembled George W. Bush. Then, for a real challenge, I had a chance to see Abell 91. It was better than a far-away cloud.

Finally, it was time to pack up and leave. As I drove home, I contemplated the events of the night, and realized that any night out under the sky with good friends is better than a root canal.
